What is a Candidate?

The Salvation Army – USA Eastern Territory

A candidate is an individual who has a confirmed calling by God into full-time ministry with The Salvation Army. The person is in the process of completing the application and is working toward being accepted as a student at The Salvation Army’s College for Officer Training. He or she is preparing to be trained as a Salvation Army officer. In the ensuing months before attending the College for Officer Training, this individual is designated as a Candidate.

What is the Candidates’ Department?

The Eastern Territory Candidates Department is dedicated to supporting those who feel called by God to serve in ministry with The Salvation Army. This department works closely with your local Corps and Division, as well as the Eastern Territory College for Officer Training, to guide you on your journey to becoming a Salvation Army Officer.

We firmly believe that God has a unique purpose for each of our lives.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11 NLT).
